Your readiness

Advisory

At risk of missing the deadline

You have 92 days until the deadline. BPJPH has said there will be no further extension, waiting longer risks missing it entirely.

What to line up

  • Identify an accredited halal certification body for a Path A application
  • Prepare slaughter or production process evidence for the audit
  • Submit the Path A application through BPJPH's process
  • Prepare segregation evidence, halal product must never commingle with non-halal product in storage or transport
  • Track your certification timeline against the October 17, 2026 deadline

FAQ

Indonesia halal certification

What is the actual deadline?

October 17, 2026, for imported food, beverages, and slaughter products and services. BPJPH's leadership has stated there will be no further extension, and active market enforcement starts October 18, 2026.

Does this affect all food exports to Indonesia?

It covers food, beverages, and slaughter products and services. Meat and poultry exporters are hit hardest, since non-certified slaughter products can effectively no longer clear once enforcement begins.

How long does certification take?

Exporters without a mutual recognition arrangement (MRA) go through Path A certification, which typically takes three to six months. If your existing certification is MRA-recognised, this can be faster.

What does halal certification actually require?

It is a supply-chain claim, not just a label: it depends on the slaughter method and on keeping halal product segregated from non-halal product at every subsequent step, storage, transport, and processing included.

Is this checklist an official certification path?

No. This is orientation for planning purposes. Confirm your current requirements and certification path directly with BPJPH, an accredited halal certification body, or your Indonesian importer.
