HS codes
What is an HS code?
The Harmonized System is the global product classification used for customs. The first 6 digits are the same worldwide; countries add 2 to 4 more digits for their own tariff and statistics. Chapters 01 to 24 cover food and agriculture.
How many digits do I need?
For a quote or a duty estimate the 6-digit subheading is usually enough. For a customs declaration you need your destination's full national code (8 to 10 digits), which you take from its tariff schedule.
What is the HS code for mangoes?
Fresh mangoes sit under heading 0804, subheading 0804.50 (guavas, mangoes and mangosteens). Search 'mango' above to jump to it, then check the duty for your destination.
What is the HS code for shrimp or prawns?
Frozen shrimps and prawns are 0306.17. Live, fresh or chilled shrimp fall under other 0306 subheadings. Search 'shrimp' to see the options.
Is this the official classification?
No. This is a finder to get you to the right heading quickly. The binding classification and duty come from your destination's customs authority and tariff schedule. Confirm with a licensed broker.
