Landed cost
What is landed cost?
Landed cost is the total cost to get goods to your door: the goods value plus freight, insurance, duty, taxes and other charges. It is what you should price against, not just the FOB price.
Is duty charged on FOB or CIF?
Most countries charge duty on the CIF customs value (goods plus freight and insurance). Some use FOB. This tool lets you pick the basis; confirm which your destination uses.
How is VAT or GST calculated?
Import VAT or GST is usually charged on the customs value plus duty. This tool uses CIF plus duty as the VAT base, which matches most regimes.
Where do I find my duty rate?
Use the tariff calculator to look up duty and VAT by commodity and destination, or ask your customs broker. Free trade agreements can bring duty to zero.
Are these figures exact?
They are planning estimates. Real duty, VAT and fees depend on classification, valuation and origin rules. Confirm with your broker before you price or commit.
